PESHAWAR: The Peshawar district administration has arrested 138 shopkeepers while sealing 48 shops during the holy month of Ramazan for overpricing.
According to a spokesperson for the district administration, the district administration inspected 483 business centers in different areas of Peshawar. The inspections were conducted on University Road, Charsadda Road, Dalzak, Inner City, Hayatabad, Ring Road, Kohat and Bachchi Road in Peshawar.
He said 138 shopkeepers who were selling food items at prices higher than the official rates were arrested while 53 people were sent to jail. The district administration said that 48 shops were sealed for selling food items at high prices and all shopkeepers were directed to display the official price list in their respective shops and sell food items as per the price list.
