SWAT: As many as 20 people, including children, women and others, were injured when stray dogs’ bites the citizens in Godha, Mandai and its outskirts areas of Tehsil Kabal Swat.
All the injured were shifted to Kabal Hospital for immediate medical treatment, where they were given (ARV) anti-rabies vaccine and later discharged. Those who needed haemoglobin were referred to Saidu Sharif Hospital.
According to hospital sources, two people were brought to the hospital on the first day, while the next day, about 18 people were injured after being bitten by stray dogs. Locals have demanded that TMA Kabal and other concerned agencies must take immediate action against stray dogs in these areas.
Locals say that TMA Kabal does not have the necessary medicines for the dog killing campaign, which may be due to a lack of funds. Earlier, a regular campaign was carried out against stray dogs under the management of TMA Kabal, in which these dogs were eliminated by using specific medicines, but no campaign was conducted this year, which is a clear proof of the shortage of funds.
The public circles of Tehsil Kabal have demanded that the district administration and other concerned authorities must provide resources to TMA Kabal to purchase medicines so that this serious problem can be resolved timely.
