ISLAMABAD: In response to Israel’s ongoing military operations against Iran, 20 Muslim countries, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, and others, have strongly condemned the aggression, warning that targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities is a clear violation of international law, humanitarian principles, and the UN Charter, with potentially severe consequences for both regional and global stability.
In a joint statement released by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the countries declared that the Israeli attacks on Iran since June 13, 2025, are not only unacceptable but also represent a challenge to the rules-based international order.
The declaration stated that these attacks defy the fundamental principles upon which international peace, sovereignty of states, and global stability are built. The signatories emphasized that the use of force to resolve disputes undermines peace and must be rejected universally.
The countries warned specifically against Israeli attempts to target Iran’s nuclear facilities, which are under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Any such act, the statement noted, would constitute a serious breach of United Nations Security Council resolutions, IAEA protocols, and the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
“Such reckless military adventurism,” the statement read, “would not only destabilize the region but also erode the credibility of international legal frameworks.”
The signatories include: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Libya, Algeria, Bahrain, Brunei, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Mauritania, Somalia, Sudan, and Oman.
Their foreign ministers jointly demanded an immediate halt to Israeli military operations, asserting that these actions violate Iranian sovereignty and are pushing the Middle East toward the brink of a broader, more dangerous conflict.
They underscored that all disputes must be resolved through peaceful means, in line with international law and the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and good neighborliness.
The statement expressed grave concern over the possibility that Israeli attacks could damage Iranian nuclear facilities operating under IAEA oversight. It stressed that any such move would not only threaten Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy but could also lead to irreparable environmental and humanitarian damage.
Highlighting the need for urgent de-escalation, the countries called for the Middle East to be declared a zone free of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction. They warned that granting any state exemptions in this regard would pose a serious threat to global security.
The declaration also urged all countries in the Middle East to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to prevent an arms race and reduce nuclear threats in the region.
The ministers further emphasized the importance of resuming dialogue and negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program as the only viable and sustainable path forward.
“Diplomacy, dialogue, and respect for international law are the only effective means of resolving this crisis,” the joint statement said. “There is no military solution to the current conflict. The use of force will only lead to destruction.”
Finally, the statement stressed the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in international waterways, warning that any actions threatening maritime security in the current tense environment would endanger global trade, energy supplies, and economic stability.
