23 Afghan Women’s Rights Groups Urge Trump To Prosecute Khalilzad

A coalition of Afghan women’s groups has called on former President Donald Trump to pursue legal action against Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. envoy to Afghanistan.

The groups accuse Khalilzad of betraying American values and enabling the Taliban’s return to power, alleging his diplomatic efforts legitimized the group and worsened conditions for Afghan women.

In an open letter, the coalition claimed Khalilzad’s assurances that the Taliban had changed were proven false, citing increased terrorism and systemic oppression of women.

The letter, signed by over a dozen organizations, demands accountability through a fair legal process.

Khalilzad, who led U.S.-Taliban negotiations under both the Trump and Biden administrations, has not responded.
