PESHAWAR: British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jeanne Marrett on her visit to KP assembly and meeting Speaker Babar Saleem Swati expressed her commitment to promote bilateral relations and parliamentary cooperation with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jeanne Marrett, visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and met with Speaker Babar Saleem Swati in the Speaker’s Chamber. Members of the Provincial Assembly, Sheila Bano, Rahana Ismail and Tariq Saeed, as well as Special Secretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Syed Waqar Shah, were also present in the meeting.
Important issues such as women’s rights and development, democratic stability, economic prosperity, legislation and parliamentary cooperation were discussed during the meeting. Both sides agreed to empower women, promote parliamentary transparency, and support the development of the province through legislation.
Speaker Babar Saleem Swati and British High Commissioner Jeanne Marrett also discussed strengthening democratic institutions and increasing investment opportunities. Later, the Protocol Wing of the Assembly took the British High Commissioner on a special tour of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, in which he was briefed on the legislative process, parliamentary traditions and the history of the Assembly.
At the end of the visit, Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati, presented the British High Commissioner Jeanne Marrett with a commemorative shield of the Assembly. On this occasion, both the dignitaries expressed their commitment to promote bilateral relations and parliamentary cooperation. At the end of the meeting, a commemorative group photo was also taken, which highlights the importance of this diplomatic exchange.
This meeting reflects the commitment between Pakistan and the United Kingdom to further promote parliamentary relations, strengthen democratic institutions and achieve common development goals.
