PESHAWAR: Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Shahab Ali Shah has said that 4.9 million children in the province are out of school, while 9 million children are studying in schools.
The KP chief secretary, Shahab Ali Shah, addressed a coordination meeting to ensure transparency in matriculation examinations. He said that unless the examination system is transparent, the country and society cannot progress.
Shahab Ali Shah said that cheating prevention is possible only with the cooperation of examination staff. He said that the cheating mafia is active and also determines the duties of the examination staff. However, the government is introducing a system that can ensure transparency and merit.
The Chief Secretary said that the Peshawar Education Board is showing outstanding performance in terms of cheating prevention and transparency, and other boards should also follow it.
He said that competent students would not emerge until cheating was eliminated. Education had become a business for many, and politics had been involved in the education system.
The Chief Secretary appreciated the role of teachers and said that they are the architects of the nation, and development is possible only because of them. Teachers play a key role in building societies, and efforts are being made to restore their dignity and role.
Shahab Ali Shah said that although facilities were lacking in schools in the past, academic performance was good. We have to create a system in which merit and transparency are ensured.
