PESHAWAR: Five people were killed, and one was injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a car near Jameel Chowk in Peshawar. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Phandu Police Station while the victims were returning from a wedding hall.
The deceased were identified as Abdullah (son of Badam Gul), Tahir (son of Nawab), Usama (son of Himayatullah), Owais (son of Syed Badshah), and Waqas. The injured, Saqib (son of Syed Ahmad Shah), is receiving medical treatment.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Masood Ahmed Bangash stated that four to five armed suspects attacked the vehicle, using Kalashnikovs, 30-bore pistols, and an M4 rifle. All victims died on the spot, while a passerby was also injured.
Initial investigations suggest the attack was linked to an old enmity. The deceased included the son of a former Nazim and a resident of Swabi. Police have shifted the bodies for post-mortem and are further investigating the incident.
