PESHAWAR: The repatriation of Afghan refugees and illegal immigrants holding Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC) from Pakistan to Afghanistan continues steadily. Today, a significant number of individuals were sent back via the Torkham border, including 2,547 ACC holders and 3,130 undocumented immigrants.
Since April 1, 2025, a total of 8,115 Afghan Citizen Card holders have been repatriated through Torkham. The process, which began in September 2023, has seen an overwhelming 491,317 undocumented Afghans returning to their homeland via the same border crossing.
The returnees include individuals from various regions of Pakistan. Since April 1, 160 ACC holders from Islamabad, 4,931 from Punjab, and one from Gilgit-Baltistan have been sent back. Additionally, 6,706 undocumented immigrants from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,573 from Islamabad, 6,115 from Punjab, 38 from Azad Kashmir, one from Gilgit-Baltistan, and 44 from Sindh have been repatriated.

In a separate development, 105 Afghan refugees from Sialkot and Rawalpindi—comprising 20 men, 24 women, and 61 children—were temporarily housed at the Peshawar Transit Point for overnight stay. They are expected to be transferred to Afghanistan via Torkham tomorrow after completing necessary documentation.
The Home and Tribal Affairs Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains actively engaged in overseeing the repatriation process.
