6.5 million children to be vaccinated across KP in coming polio drive: CS

 

PESHAWAR: Chief Secretary (CS) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Shahab Ali Shah has said that 6.5 million children under 5 will be vaccinated in the upcoming anti-polio drive starting in May.

An important meeting of the provincial anti-polio task force, chaired by Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah, took place. The meeting reviewed the ongoing steps for polio eradication.

During the meeting, officials briefed and said that in the past, 276 union councils of the province were facing more problems regarding polio eradication, but due to better strategy and coordinated efforts, this number has now reduced to 166.

The officials termed it as significant progress towards improving vaccination.

It was informed in the meeting that during the anti-polio campaign that started in May, a target has been set to vaccinate 6.5 million children across the province. This campaign will continue from May 26 to 30.

Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah warned that strict action will be taken against deputy commissioners and district health officers who show poor performance in this regard.
