8 killed, 21 injured as rains and storms wreak havoc in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PDMA issues alert about rains in KP hilly areas from tomorrow

PESHAWAR: At least eight people have died and 21 others sustained injuries in rain and wind-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since May 27, according to a report released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

The casualties include five men, two women, and one child, while the injured comprise 10 men, five women, and six children. Severe weather conditions have also damaged 25 houses, with 24 partially destroyed and one completely leveled.

The affected districts include Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Shangla, Swat, Torghar, Mohmand, Mansehra, and Haripur. The PDMA has instructed local administrations to provide immediate relief to affected families and ensure proper medical care for the injured.

With rains expected to continue until May 31, the PDMA has alerted all district administrations to remain vigilant and take preventive measures. The authority maintains constant communication with relief agencies, and its Emergency Operation Center remains operational. The public is urged to report emergencies via the helpline 1700.
