DG ISPR, Info Minister Tarar to brief political parties on security tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry will brief top political leaders on the national security situation tomorrow (Sunday).

Sources confirmed the high-level briefing will cover recent developments in Pakistan-India relations, potential consequences, and the country’s response strategy. Political party leaders will be briefed on the armed forces’ state of preparedness, diplomatic efforts, and Pakistan’s official stance on critical issues.

Speaking earlier at a press conference following the Pahalgam incident, DG ISPR Lt Gen Chaudhry accused India of conducting terrorist operations inside Pakistan and making baseless accusations about the Pahalgam incident.

He detailed how Indian military officers have been directly linked to acts of terrorism in Pakistan, citing names and roles of officers coordinating with militants involved in IED attacks in Bhimber and Jalalpur Jattan.

According to the DG ISPR, a Pakistan-trained terrorist working for India was arrested on April 25 near Jhelum, carrying an IED, mobile phones, and Rs70,000. He called this “irrefutable evidence” of Indian involvement.

Despite India’s accusations following the Pahalgam attack, he noted, no evidence has been shared to support the claims — even after a week had passed.

This press conference came on the heels of another development: the Pakistan Army shot down an Indian surveillance quadcopter that violated Pakistani airspace along the Line of Control (LoC) earlier today.
