NEW DELHI: Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has locked his account after being subjected to intense trolling on the social media platform X.
According to Indian media, Vikram Misri had been facing online attacks since the ceasefire announcement with Pakistan. Several Indian users, especially extremist circles, were criticising him severely. In the trolling, he was not only called “traitor” and “shameless” but his family was also targeted. During this campaign on social media, Vikram Misri was accused of anti-nationalism, simply on the basis that he was considered to be in favour of reducing diplomatic tensions with Pakistan. According to sources, fed up with the increasing pressure and personal attacks, the Foreign Secretary decided to close his X account, so that he could protect himself from this online hatred.
