Peshawar admin imposes ban on flying quadcopters

 

The Peshawar district administration on Monday imposed a ban on flying quadcopters amid prevailing security concerns.

An order issued by the deputy commissioner, Peshawar, Capt (Rtd), Sarmad Saleem Akram, stated that the district administration, Peshawar, has imposed an immediate ban on the flying of drones and quadcopters across the city in view of security concerns.

It said the decision had been taken keeping in mind the protection of important installations and the safety of life and property of the public.

The announcement issued by the district administration said that this step had become necessary in view of the current security situation so that any possible mischief, unrest or illegal activity could be dealt with in advance.

According to the announcement, this ban will remain in effect for 30 days, and during this time, no person or institution will be able to fly a drone or quadcopter without permission. In case of violation, legal action would be taken under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The administration has appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies and report immediately if a drone or suspicious activity is seen anywhere, so that security measures can be made effective and timely.

According to security experts, the unauthorised use of drones can sometimes pose threats to sensitive installations and public places, so such measures are very important and timely.
