Junaid Akbar resigns as Chairman of Public Accounts Committee

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Public Account Committee Junaid Akbar has resigned from the chairmanship and has submitted his written resignation to PTI Chairman Gauhar Ali Khan.

No official statement has been made by the party yet regarding the reasons for the resignation, however, sources say that this step has been taken as per the party’s internal decisions and organisational strategy. Sources said that Imran Khan has sought the resignation of Junaid Akbar to strengthen the party at the grassroots level for the upcoming movement. It is to mentioning here that as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee in the National Assembly, Junaid Akbar investigated several audit reports of important government departments and projects during his tenure as the head of the committee, and highlighted several cases of corruption. It should be noted that the founder of PTI had directed Junaid Akbar to resign from the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). According to sources, this written order was conveyed to the party leadership through Aleema Khan.
