PESHAWAR: The Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced that after an 18-year pause, regular work has begun on the Safe City project in Peshawar, which will be completed in the next 6 months.
IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that under the Safe City project, more than 700 cameras will be installed at more than 100 important locations in the city, with the help of which the city can be monitored and secured effectively. He said that modern technology is being used in this project to improve police performance and ensure the safety of citizens. Zulfiqar Hameed further said that the Punjab Safe City Authority team will assist in the completion of the project. Regarding the cost of the project, he said that the Lahore Safe City project was completed at the cost of Rs17 billion, while the project in Peshawar is being completed at a cost of only Rs-02 billion. The IG said that despite limited resources, the project is being carried out effectively, and this will prove to be a significant development for the citizens of Peshawar.
