5,200 people identified for spreading anti-state propaganda during India-Pakistan tensions

 

PESHAWAR: Senior journalist Tariq Waheed has revealed that 52,00 people have been identified for spreading anti-state propaganda during the Pak-India tensions.

Exclusively talking to Pakhtun Digital, a Peshawar-based senior journalist, Tariq Waheed claimed that the crackdown on those who propagated against the state and national institutions has been tightened, and in this regard, those individuals who were involved in this propaganda on social media have been identified.

He revealed that the National Cyber ​​Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has profiled those individuals who were part of this defamatory campaign.

According to sources, the individuals identified so far include 1200 government employees, 1500 overseas Pakistanis and 2500 retired government employees.

According to Tariq Waheed, sources are not yet confirming under which law action will be taken against these individuals, but the prevailing assumption is that action will be taken under the Cyber ​​Crime Laws as well as the PECA Act.

He said that the majority of the individuals identified belong to a specific political party that tried to get a deal for their leader, even in these circumstances.

According to sources, in the second phase, action will also be taken against ordinary individuals who were part of this mocking campaign and who spread anti-state and army propaganda on Facebook, X or WhatsApp groups.

He added that FIRs have been registered in various districts over the past several days for running campaigns against the Pakistan Army and defence institutions on social media.

An FIR was also registered against eight individuals in Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, and SP City Shafiur Rehman told Pakhtun Digital that the arrest of the named accused will be carried out soon.
