The federal government has approved the promotion of General Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal.
Important decisions were taken in the federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
According to the announcement, the federal cabinet approved the promotion of General Syed Asim Munir (Nishan-e-Imtiaz Military) to the rank of Field Marshal.
General Asim Munir was promoted to the rank of Field Marshal for his superior strategy in Operation Banyan-um-marsoo and for defeating the enemy.
The meeting also unanimously decided to continue the services of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Babar Sidhu after his term of office ends.
