ISLAMABAD: A consensus has been reached between the Federal government and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on the issues of the National Financial Commission (NFC) Award.
According to sources, the NFC Award will be reviewed in August and letters have also been issued to all provinces in this regard. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has confirmed that the pending issues in the Council of Common Interests (CCI), including the NFC Award, have been resolved. He said that progress has been made on several important issues of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sources said the Chief Minister has also issued a member’s notification on the issue of reviewing the NFC Award. The federal government had requested the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to name a member to review the NFC award, which has now been approved. Following this development, it is hoped that the review of the NFC award will help in better resolving financial issues between the provinces and make the distribution of their shares to the provinces more transparent and fair.
