KP cabinet members hold pre-budget consultative meeting with Sarhad Chamber of Commerce

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet members hold pre-budget consultative meeting with Sarhad Chamber of Commerce under the supervision Finance Advisor Muzamil Aslam.

Provincial Minister for Excise Khaliq-ur-Rehman, Special Assistant for Industries Abdul Karim Tordhier, Secretary Excise Khalid Ilyas, Director General CAPRA Fawzia Iqbal, Revenue Department officials also attended the consultative meeting. Sarhad Chamber of Commerce cabinet, traders, industrialists and investors participated in the consultation.

Finance Minister Muzamil Aslam said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is financially dependent on the federal government about 93% while only 07% percent revenue is being collected in the province. He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa collects less revenue than other provinces and that is why provinces are also facing pressure from the IMF.

He added that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has increased tax and non-tax revenue in the current fiscal year two billion have been released for the Peshawar Safe City project. He said that all legitimate complaints of traders and industrialists will be redressed. He informed that last year, property rental tax has been reduced from 16 percent to 10 percent while tax on educational institutions had been fixed, which was very low.

He added that last year property transfer tax was reduced from 6.5% to 3.5% while vehicle registration fees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were lower than other provinces. Finance Advisor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that a universal number plate scheme has been launched for vehicle registration, and every Tuesday will be an open day for the Secretary of Excise, during which issues will be heard. He went on to say that the amnesty scheme will be considered to reduce arrears on factories before 2020.

He vowed that all possible cooperation will be provided to provide better facilities to traders and industrialists. Orders have been issued to resolve some problems of traders and industrialists on the spot. He said that legal action will be taken against officers who unnecessarily harass traders and industrialists.
