ISLAMABAD: To discuss bilateral relations and ongoing Iranian nuclear negotiations with the United States, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will visit Tehran next week at the invitation of Iranian President Masoud Pazishkian.
Diplomatic sources said that preparations are underway as a high-level delegation will also travel to Iran along with the Prime Minister, where he will meet the Iranian President and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. During the visit, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will present Pakistan’s position on the recent Pakistan-India tension and the situation after it to the Iranian leadership, and will also thank Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi for his conciliatory efforts during his recent visit to Pakistan.
Sources said that important issues such as mutual cooperation between the two countries, trade relations, security, border management, and regional and global peace and security will be discussed in the meetings. The Iranian leadership will also take the Prime Minister into confidence on the ongoing nuclear talks between the US and Iran. According to sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also visit Turkey and Azerbaijan next week, where he will meet the leadership of both countries and thank them for their support during the recent Pakistan-India tensions.
