Gold rates increase by Rs 3,100 per tola in Pakistan

Gold prices rise for second straight day amid market uncertainty

KARACHI: Gold rates in Pakistan surged by Rs3,100 per tola on Friday, the final trading day of the week, pushing the rate to Rs354,100, according to the Sindh Sarafa Bazaar Jewellers’ Association.

The price of 10 grams of gold also climbed by Rs2,658, reaching Rs303,583. This marks the second consecutive day of significant increase, following Thursday’s Rs3,500 jump, which had already pushed gold prices past the Rs350,000 mark per tola.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s short-term inflation showed a slight decline for the week ending May 23. The Sensitive Price Index (SPI) dropped by 0.29% from the previous week, as per data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Friday. However, on a year-on-year basis, inflation rose by 1.35%.

Of the 51 essential items monitored by PBS, prices for 13 items increased, 14 saw a decline, and 24 remained stable.
