JUI to launch major public campaign against KP govt corruption

Mines & Minerals Bill: JUI-F submits adjournment motion in Senate

PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced a large-scale public campaign targeting corruption, nepotism, and deteriorating law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The decision followed a high-level meeting in Peshawar, attended by JUI’s executive council and provincial parliamentary members, where detailed briefings on alleged provincial government scandals were presented.

During the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman singled out the Kohistan scandal, BRT project, Malam Jabba lease, and Billion Tree Tsunami initiative as emblematic of systemic corruption. He demanded immediate investigations to expose those responsible. The JUI chief also condemned the provincial government’s Mines and Minerals Bill, calling it a “robbery of the province’s rights” and unconstitutional.

The campaign will simultaneously oppose the federal Child Marriage Restraint Bill, which JUI deems “un-Islamic.” Public protests will commence after Eid-ul-Adha, starting with a major demonstration in Hazara Division. A landmark rally led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman is scheduled for June 29 in Battagram to galvanize opposition against the laws and governance failures.

JUI’s mobilization reflects escalating tensions over resource allocation, security, and religious legislation in the province.
