PAA launches Eid safety drive to curb bird hazards at Peshawar airport

PESHAWAR:The Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) has launched a special safety campaign ahead of Eid al-Adha, focusing on cleanliness around Bacha Khan International Airport and surrounding areas in Peshawar.

PAA officials emphasized the critical need for timely disposal of animal remains and general garbage, warning against leaving waste in the open. They explained that improperly discarded animal remains attract large numbers of birds, which pose a significant risk to air travel safety. A PAA spokesperson stressed that an increase in birds near the airport could lead to serious incidents, making public awareness essential.

As part of the campaign, awareness banners are being displayed across the city to educate the public about safe practices for disposing of sacrificial animal waste and ensuring safe air travel. The PAA is collaborating with the provincial government, local administration, and other departments on this public awareness drive.

PAA teams are actively checking livestock markets and major highways within the city. Alongside these inspections, they are distributing informational pamphlets to the public. The authority stated that these effective measures will help reduce bird-related risks around the airport during the Eid period.
