PTA conducts quality of service survey for fixed-line broadband in Pakistan

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has successfully completed the Quality of Service (QoS) survey for fixed-line broadband services across 46 major cities in Pakistan, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). Conducted during the first quarter of 2025, the survey aimed to evaluate the network performance of Broadband Service Providers (BSPs) and ensure the delivery of high-quality internet services to consumers.

The survey results indicate that most BSPs are compliant with key performance indicators (KPIs), particularly Network Availability (Local and Core) and Network Latency (Local segment). However, a considerable number of BSPs demonstrated underperformance in certain cities with respect to KPIs such as Bandwidth Utilization, Jitter, and Network Latency (International segment). These deficiencies can adversely impact user experience, especially during peak usage hours. In response, PTA has directed the respective operators to implement necessary corrective measures and improve the quality of service.

The primary objective of PTA’s QoS surveys is to enhance fixed-line broadband services and ensure a better user experience nationwide. The detailed Q1 2025 survey results are available on PTA’s official website for public information https://www.pta.gov.pk/category/qos-survey-of-fixed-line-broadband-service-providers-2020-1403945254-2023-05-30
