745 dead, wounded in KP terror attacks this year: Official report

Two terrorists of the Fitna-ul-Khwarij were injured in Swat police and counter counter-terrorism department joint operation on Sunday. 

PESHAWAR: A new annual report reveals devastating human toll from terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) this year, with 745 people killed or injured in attacks across the province.

The report details significant losses among security forces. A total of 54 police officers were martyred and 75 others wounded across 15 districts. Bannu district suffered the highest casualties overall (167 killed/injured), followed by North Waziristan (136 killed/injured). Specific police losses included 7 martyred in Kohat, 5 in Peshawar, 4 in South Waziristan, and 2 martyred plus one injured in Khyber district.

Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel also faced heavy losses, with 41 martyred and 63 injured in various attacks. Kurram district lost 12 FC personnel, while North Waziristan lost 9. Additionally, 9 Khasadar force members were martyred and 18 injured.

Civilian casualties remained alarmingly high, with 95 killed and 256 injured province-wide. Bannu recorded 19 civilian deaths, South Waziristan 13, and North Waziristan 11.

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) report underscores the severe challenges faced by security agencies and the critical state of law and order in KP. It emphasizes the urgent need for more effective counter-terrorism measures in the province.
