Bilawal stresses diplomacy over aggression for lasting peace in South Asia

PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto aleges Indian 'Water Terrorism,' urges UN to intervene on Kashmir

WASHINGTON: Chairman Pakistan People Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stressed that sustainable peace in South Asia is linked to dialogue, diplomacy and a fair solution to the Kashmir issue instead of unilateral actions and aggression.’

A high-level parliamentary delegation of Pakistan, led by Chairman Pakistan People Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, met with US Congress members in Washington.According to the Pakistani Embassy in the US, the delegation briefed on the recent tension between Pakistan and India, India’s violation of international laws regarding the Indus Waters Treaty and Pakistan’s principled position on various issues, including the Kashmir issue.The Pakistani delegation also met with other members of the Pakistani community. On this occasion, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that ‘India’s aggression, targeting of innocent people and unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty are clear violations of international law.’

He said that he appreciates the efforts of the US leadership regarding the ceasefire. ‘Sustainable peace in South Asia is linked to dialogue, diplomacy and a just solution to the Kashmir issue instead of unilateral actions and aggression.’ Bilawal Bhutto said that ‘the international community should take notice of India’s actions of using water as a weapon.’ The Pakistani delegation met separately with US Senator Alyssa Slotkin, Congressman Sidney Kamalagardo, Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Congressman Tom Kaine Jr., Congressman John Molinar and others.

Bilawal Bhutto said that he appreciates the efforts of the US leadership regarding the ceasefire. According to the Pakistani Embassy in the US, the Pakistani delegation reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled position regarding regional peace, counter-terrorism efforts, and Indian aggression.’ During the talks, emphasis was placed on a just solution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and negotiations. The delegation told the members of the US Congress that ‘Pakistan wants a solution to the Kashmir issue as per UN resolutions.’

On this occasion, the US Congress members reiterated their support for Pakistan’s economic stability and peace goals. Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto stressed the importance of trade between Pakistan and the US, calling it a bridge for constructive relations and the betterment of the people. The US Congress members assured the delegation of solidarity and economic cooperation with the people of Pakistan.
