Bannu MNA expresses concern over security issues in constituency

By: Salman Ali Khan

Member of the National Assembly from Bannu, Maulana Syed Naseem Ali Shah, has stated that while the world is progressing, there remains a strong desire for peace. To address the long-standing insecurity in Bannu, he has engaged in discussions with security agencies and advocated for the Bannu tribes. However, he expressed dissatisfaction with their responses, stating that the disconnect between institutions and the people is widening.

He highlighted the presence of anti-state forces in the Janikhel, Bakakhel, and Wazir subdivisions, which have exhausted the local population. Maulana Shah emphasised that the state must take these issues seriously, as many honourable citizens are now compelled to pay extortion. The business community, too, is facing threats via telephone. He commended the elders of the Bannu tribes for their efforts in addressing these challenges.

While addressing media representatives during his visit to the Bannu Press Club, MNA Maulana Syed Naseem Ali Shah remarked on his efforts to maintain peace on the floor of the National Assembly. He has taken a strong stance on various issues, often finding that the Speaker of the National Assembly does not allow him to speak. In such cases, he resorts to using Pina Flex to formally register his protest in the House.

He further stated that among all the cases pending against Imran Khan in the courts, none hold any truth, and he has been unjustly punished. Despite various attempts to undermine Imran Khan’s popularity, Maulana Shah believes that the media has ensured that the nation remains aware, and Imran Khan’s support has only increased.

The MNA announced that a significant project aimed at eliminating unemployment, the Economic Zone, is underway. He mentioned that large funds will be allocated in the upcoming budget to activate this project quickly. Additionally, a PC project worth 30 billion is planned for Bannu City, which will include essential improvements such as sanitation, clean drinking water, drainage, and street paving. A project director will be appointed soon, and work on this initiative is expected to begin by the end of the year.

Under the KFW project, developments are set to be completed in all tehsils of the district at 2.5 billion, aiming to uplift less developed tehsils to the level of urban areas. The Bani Gul City project, which faced delays during the caretaker government, is now being revived by the PTI government, with tenders issued in regular newspapers. Work has also commenced on the second phase of the Circular Road, stretching from Shagai River Karam Pul to DI Khan Road.

Overall, projects worth one trillion rupees are being proposed for the Bannu district, which will help alleviate local deprivation. A bypass road will also be constructed from the Bannu Miranshah Road to the Naurang Road to address the ongoing traffic issues in Bannu city. Maulana Shah noted that the DHQ Hospital is being upgraded significantly.

On this occasion, PT IK District General Secretary Haji Waheed Khan, Tehsil Bannu General Secretary Khalid Riaz Khan, former District Councilor Feroz Khan, and other leaders were also present.
