A delegation of top officials of cement factories met with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, in which detailed discussions were held on the problems faced by the cement industry, their solutions and the promotion of the industry in the province.
During the meeting, it was agreed to increase the royalty on cement from Rs 250 to Rs 350 per ton, while consent was also expressed for a phased increase over the next five years, with an annual increase of 10 per cent in the first two years and 7.5 per cent in the following three years.
The Chief Minister assured the delegation that the provincial government would provide all possible support to promote all mineral industries, including the cement industry.
He also invited investment in value-added opportunities in gypsum, placer gold and other mineral products.
The Chief Minister said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has a rich potential for valuable minerals, which is being explored through modern mining machinery and methods. In this regard, the provincial government has established its own mining company to ensure optimal management of mineral resources.
Ali Amin Gandapur also invited the delegation to invest in the construction of a provincial transmission line and said that electricity generated from local power plants would be provided to industries at affordable rates, which would help promote the industrial sector and eliminate unemployment.
The delegation welcomed the Chief Minister’s invitation to invest and also expressed interest in further investment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the future.
