He said that Pakistan has a target of making an economy of $ 3 trillion by 2047, in view of which the development budget for the financial year 2025-2026 has been set at Rs 4.2 trillion.
The government has allocated federal funding of Rs 1 trillion under the PSDP, while Rs 33 billion has been allocated for Diamer-Bhasha Dam and Rs 35 billion for Mohmand Dam, Rs 100 billion for Quetta-Karachi Highway and Rs 25 billion for Indus Highway.

The government has reduced the number of federal projects from 1071 to 800 for the next five years, which includes low-priority and inactive projects, and eliminating them will save the national exchequer Rs 2730 billion.
The federal development portfolio has now been capped at Rs 12.8 trillion. The government has established national centres for nanotechnology, quantum computing and new industries, while the foundation has been laid for the establishment of a “Quantum Valley” in Pakistan.

According to the report, the fiscal deficit decreased from 3.7% to 2.6%, while savings of Rs5.4 billion were achieved in April alone by eliminating unnecessary projects. In May 2025 alone, 27 projects were approved or proposed.
According to the Federal Minister, 210 out of 240 PSDP projects were fully evaluated, and consultations were held with the Asian Development Bank, AIIB and the World Bank on development partnerships.
