ISLAMABAD: Eid-ul-Adha is being celebrated across the country today (Saturday) with religious zeal, honoring the profound sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS).
The day began with special prayers at mosques for the unity and well-being of the Muslim Ummah, as well as the progress, prosperity, and security of Pakistan.
Congregational Eid prayers were held nationwide, accompanied by sermons emphasizing the spiritual significance of the occasion and the essence of sacrifice in Islam.
In Islamabad, the central Eid prayer gathering took place at Faisal Mosque, attended by federal ministers, political leaders, parliamentarians, diplomats, and a large number of worshippers.
Following the prayers, Muslims across the country began performing the ritual sacrifice of animals—cows, goats, sheep, and camels—following the Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi. The meat is being distributed among relatives, neighbors, and those in need.
In Lahore, the main congregation was held at Badshahi Mosque, while in Rawalpindi, it was at Liaquat Bagh. In Karachi, large gatherings were reported at Gulshan-e-Jinnah, Nishtar Park, National Stadium, and Eidgah Nazimabad.
Despite inflation and rising prices of sacrificial animals, many people fulfilled the tradition according to their financial capacity over the three days of Eid.
Local administrations across cities and towns have made special arrangements for the efficient disposal of offal and solid waste. Security has been tightened across major urban centers, with comprehensive contingency plans issued to ensure public safety. Police personnel have been deployed at mosques and public venues to maintain law and order.
