Malakand forest fire spreads to 6km, forces FC post evacuation

MALAKAND: A dangerous forest fire in the Bata Pahari area near Batkhela, Malakand, has intensified and spread significantly after burning for two days. The blaze has now engulfed approximately six kilometers of forest, reducing large areas to ashes.

The flames grew so intense that a nearby Frontier Corps (FC) security post had to be evacuated for safety. Firefighting teams, including FC personnel, Levies, and rescue services, are working to extinguish the fire. However, strong winds sweeping through the forest are making it extremely difficult to bring the fire under control.

This incident adds to a worrying trend. Authorities report that this is the 24th fire to break out in the mountain range within just the last two months. Despite these repeated incidents, the district administration and forest department continue to face significant challenges in controlling the blazes.
