The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has filed an application at the police station Rehman Baba in Peshawar to register an FIR, accusing the police station Mahrar of assaulting the PESCO staff during raids against power theft in the area.
According to sources, a dispute has emerged between PESCO and the police during the operation against electricity theft. PESCO has filed an application to register an FIR against the registrar of the Rehman Baba Police Station.
The application alleges that Rehman Baba Police Station is operating on illegal electricity connections, while during an operation against Kunda culture in the area, the registrar of Rehman Baba Police Station allegedly misbehaved with PESCO staff, slapped a PESCO official, and threatened to kill them.
Against this incident, the Sub-Divisional Officer PESCO has sent an application to SHO Rehman Baba, which states that the team of PESCO Landi Arbab Sub-Division was conducting an operation against Kunda culture. During the operation, several illegal connections were caught and disconnected on the spot.
In the written application submitted to SHO Rehman Baba, it has been stated that when the team was removing illegal electricity connections in the area, Rehman Baba Police Station Rehman Baba Police Station Rehman Shahid Khattak reached the spot and got into an argument with the staff.
According to the letter, the Muharrar misbehaved with the Line Superintendent and other staff, slapped a PESCO official named Rais Khan and threatened to kill him if he came again.
The written complaint further claims that PVCs should also be snatched from the PESCO staff.
In its application, PESCO has demanded registration of an FIR under points such as interference in government work, assault on a government employee, threats and snatching of government property. The application also claims that the Rehman Baba Police Station itself is also running on an illegal electricity connection and is also providing illegal electricity to shopkeepers from the same feeder.
Based on this allegation, PESCO has requested the relevant authorities to investigate and take action.
