ISLAMABAD: The ongoing severe heatwave across the country is expected to ease with the arrival of rainfall and dust storms, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The Met Office has forecast the onset of a pre-monsoon weather system that will begin affecting eastern parts of Sindh from Saturday evening. Areas such as Tharparkar and Umerkot are likely to receive scattered rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms.
Similar weather conditions are expected on Sunday in various districts, including Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Mithi, Badin, Mirpur Khas, Umerkot, Thatta, Karachi, and Hyderabad.
Earlier, the PMD reported that moisture-laden currents are entering the upper parts of the country, while a westerly wave is expected to approach on June 13.
From June 13 to 16, rain, dust storms, and isolated hailstorms are likely in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, and several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Rain is also forecast for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various districts of upper and central Punjab, including Lahore. In Balochistan, Zhob, Barkhan, and Musakhel are also expected to receive rain during this period.
Southern Punjab districts are likely to experience dust storms and thunderstorms as well.
