History made at Lord's as South Africa triumph in WTC25 Final

South Africa won the World Test Championship for the first time, defeating Australia by five wickets in the final at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

After winning the toss, South Africa chose to field first. Australia scored 217 runs in their first innings, with Steve Smith (66) and Beau Webster contributing. Kagiso Rabada took five wickets for South Africa, while Marco Jansen claimed three.

In response, South Africa were bowled out for just 138 runs in their first innings. David Bedingham (45) and Temba Bavuma (36) were the top scorers. Pat Cummins took six wickets for Australia, with Mitchell Starc picking up two.

Australia began their second innings with a 74-run lead but were all out for 207. Mitchell Starc remained unbeaten on 58, while Alex Carey scored 43.

Chasing a target of 282, South Africa reached the total with five wickets in hand. Aiden Markram led the charge with a brilliant 136, supported by Temba Bavuma’s 66, securing a historic victory for the Proteas.
