British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that the UK is deploying additional military assets, including fighter jets, to the Middle East to provide “contingency support” as tensions escalate.
A spokesperson for Starmer said preparations began Friday morning as the situation in the region worsened. More refuelling aircraft have been sent from UK bases, with additional fighter jets to follow.
In a separate call, Starmer and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed the growing conflict between Israel and Iran. Both leaders agreed on the urgent need to reduce tensions, according to a statement from Starmer’s office.
