QUETTA: The Balochistan government will present its fiscal year 2025–26 budget on June 17, following a revised schedule approved by a parliamentary committee.
According to official sources, the provincial assembly session has been convened by the Balochistan Governor on the advice of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.
The upcoming budget is expected to exceed Rs 1,055 billion and is projected to be a surplus budget. Of this, over Rs 830 billion is proposed for non-development expenditures, while more than Rs 220 billion will be allocated to development projects.
As per the proposals under discussion, provincial government employees are expected to see a 10% salary increase and a 7% pension hike, aligning with federal government decisions. Balochistan is also projected to receive over Rs 740 billion through federal transfers, with an additional Rs 70 billion expected from gas royalties and the Saindak project.
Among sectoral allocations, education is set to receive the largest share with Rs 140 billion, followed by Rs 110 billion for law and order, and Rs 60 billion for health. Further funding will support essential services, including access to clean drinking water.
The budget will continue key public welfare programs such as the Benazir Scholarship Program, Green Bus Service, and Sehat Card health insurance scheme.
The provincial finance minister is scheduled to present the budget in the Balochistan Assembly on Tuesday.
