The Bannu police, in a joint operation with the counter terrorism department (CTD), on Sunday destroyed terrorist hideouts, arrested many and seized a huge cache of weapons from their possession.
According to details, Bannu Police received intelligence reports indicating the presence of several suspicious individuals in the areas of Bargantu and Kam Chashmi, located within the jurisdiction of Domel Police Station. Acting swiftly on this information, a large-scale joint search and strike operation was launched under the directives of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu, Mr Sajad Khan and the leadership of District Police Officer (DPO) Mr. Saleem Abbas Kalachi.
The operation was carried out by Bannu Police, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and the Pakistan Army. Notable participants included Brigadier Naveed Ahmed, SP CTD Fazal Wahid, SP Investigation Sajid Mumtaz, SP Rural Mehmood Nawaz, all SDPOs and SHOs along with their teams, CTD personnel, the Quick Response Force (QRF), Lady Police, the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), and soldiers of the Pakistan Army.
Advanced technology, particularly drone surveillance, was used to monitor and inspect suspicious houses and locations in the area. Intelligence indicated the presence of drug dealers, wanted criminals, and terrorist elements.
During the operation, around 40 suspects were taken into custody and moved to an undisclosed location for further investigation. A significant quantity of weapons was also recovered from their possession.
DPO Bannu Saleem Abbas Kalachi stated:
“The purpose of such coordinated operations is to eliminate crime, drugs, and terrorism from the region and to ensure a sense of safety among citizens. These effective operations by Bannu Police will continue in the future.”
RPO Sajad Khan commended all officers and personnel for the successful operation and said:
“Bannu Police and CTD teams demonstrated professionalism, discipline, and courage in successfully executing a major operation. Such efforts not only dismantle criminal networks but also enhance public confidence in the police. We aim to maintain peace and order throughout the region at all costs.”
