PPP slams BRT as “Burden Rapid Transit,” demands transparency

BRT burden rapid Transit

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Ahmed Karim Kundi has criticized the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, calling it a heavy financial burden on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Speaking against the recent fare increase, Kundi said the government spends billions in subsidies on BRT while the province struggles with poor education and healthcare. He pointed out that KP has five million out-of-school children and nearly 1,000 non-functional Basic Health Units (BHUs).

Kundi mockingly called BRT “Burden Rapid Transit,” saying it takes up a major portion of the Asian Development Bank loans, worsening the province’s economic strain. He questioned why fares keep rising despite an annual subsidy of around three billion rupees.
