The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Monday that the United States has canceled the next round of high-level talks between the two countries, a move Moscow called “regrettable.”
In a statement, the ministry said the sudden decision undermines recent diplomatic progress and damages bilateral trust.
The talks, initiated during former U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration, focused on strategic stability, security, and defense issues.
Russia expressed disappointment, noting that recent contacts had raised hopes for improved relations. No reason was given for the U.S. withdrawal.
