The protest demonstration was held outside the Health Secretariat by the Doctors Council, in which a large number of doctors participated. The protesters raised slogans against the government and presented their demands.
Dr. Fazal Manan, General Secretary of the Doctors Council Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, told Pakhtun Digital that the professional tax imposed on the doctors’ community is unacceptable, and we completely reject it. He said that the Healthcare Commission is continuously issuing notices to doctors and collecting illegal taxes from them, which is utter cruelty.
Dr. Fazal Manan revealed that more than eight thousand doctors are unemployed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while no significant steps are being taken for them at the government level. He said that the salaries of doctors have not been increased for many years, and they are also being deprived of promotions.
The General Secretary of the Doctors Council demanded that the government provide employment to unemployed doctors through the Public Service Commission. He also expressed concern over the alleged corruption in MTI hospitals and demanded immediate action against those responsible.
Dr. Fazal Manan said that the protest sit-in will continue outside the Health Secretariat until the demands are met.
