PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) member and provincial assembly representative from Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan), Ehsanullah Miankhel, strongly criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government during an assembly session, questioning the allocation of funds and lack of development in his constituency.
Miankhel demanded an explanation for the “surplus budget,” asking whom it was meant to please. He highlighted severe shortages in basic facilities, stating that schools in his area lack teachers, hospitals have no doctors, and government offices operate without staff.
He further revealed that municipal representatives have been denied development funds for three years, and no District Development Committee (DDC) meeting has taken place in 16 months, stalling progress.
Miankhel pointed out glaring disparities, mentioning that 45 schools were upgraded only in the Chief Minister’s constituency, while his area suffers. He lamented that humans and animals drink from the same pond due to water scarcity and that hospitals lack anti-snake and anti-rabies injections.
He also raised concerns over misused funds, claiming billions were wasted on “ghost schemes” in irrigation and drinking water projects. Despite Rs. 190 million being spent in his constituency this year, he expressed ignorance over where the money was utilized.
