PESHAWAR: During the provincial budget session, Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam Fazl (JUIF) member Makhdoomzada Aftab raised strong objections, questioning the government’s claims of a budget surplus while alleging mismanagement of public funds.
He criticized the sale of university assets, asking, “If the province is going into surplus, then why did you sell the university’s assets?” He also accused the government of increasing ministers’ salaries under the pretext of surplus while neglecting public welfare.
Aftab condemned Israeli aggression, stating that “Israeli terrorism has become clear to the whole world” and highlighted the bombing of Iran. Turning to governance issues, he claimed that funds meant for district administrators were excluded from the budget and accused contractors of siphoning tender money.
He further alleged corruption, mentioning that “ETA’s money was recovered from the residence of a government assembly member” and criticized the lack of progress in college renovations despite allocated funds.
