Charges against KP CM to be framed on July 02 in audio leak case

CM Gandapur blames federal govt for worsening law and order in KP

ISLAMABAD: The District and Sessions court in Islamabad has set July 02 to frame charges against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in an audio leak case. During the hearing, presided over by Additional District and Sessions Judge Nasr Minallah Baloch, Gandapur appeared with his lawyer Raja Zahoor-ul-Hasan. The lawyer informed the court that bail had already been granted to Gandapur by the Peshawar High Court.

Gandapur requested permission to address the court, questioning whether asking about a license was a crime. “I should be awarded, not charged in an audio leak case,” he said. The judge responded that such arguments relate to the merits of the case, while the current issue was his repeated absence from court hearings. Ali Amin Gandapur stated that he had appeared multiple times and had another court appearance scheduled on the same day. The court emphasised the importance of his presence for framing charges and cancelled previously issued arrest warrants. The next hearing was scheduled for July 02.

The case against Ali Amin Gandapur relates to a controversial audio leak that reportedly contains discussions of a sensitive nature. The audio recordings allegedly surfaced amid political tensions and have led to an investigation into whether any laws were violated. Gandapur, a prominent political figure and the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has denied any wrongdoing and secured bail from the high court earlier.

The case has attracted significant media attention, highlighting concerns over political accountability and transparency.
