Friends of Paraplegic grants financial support to 17 differently-abled individuals in Mardan

MARDAN: In a significant step towards empowering differently-abled individuals, a non-governmental organisation in Mardan distributed financial aid worth Rs. 1.5 million among 17 beneficiaries. The initiative aims to help these individuals start their small businesses and become self-reliant, productive members of society.

Each recipient was awarded a cheque to support their journey toward financial independence. The support is part of a broader effort to promote inclusion and improve the quality of life for people with disabilities by providing them with opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.

Speaking at the event, representatives of the organisation emphasised the importance of economic empowerment and social integration for different disabled citizens. They expressed hope that this support would enable recipients to build a better future for themselves and contribute positively to their communities.

Friends of Paraplegics is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities. Founded with the mission to empower differently-abled people, the organisation works to promote inclusion, accessibility, and economic independence through various initiatives.

Their key programs include vocational training, financial assistance for small businesses, rehabilitation support, and awareness campaigns aimed at integrating persons with disabilities into the mainstream of society. By collaborating with local communities and institutions, Friends of Paraplegics strives to ensure that individuals with physical challenges are not only supported but also celebrated as valuable contributors to society.

The organisation has a strong presence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including districts like Mardan, where it actively engages in grassroots-level efforts to uplift the lives of paraplegics and others with disabilities.

Engineer Irfan General Secretary of the Friends of Paraplegic said that a total of 1.4 million rupees have been granted to these individuals who will invest this money in small microfinance businesses, enabling themselves to earn a respectable livelihood.
