ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened an important meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) on Monday to discuss the intensifying Iran-US tensions, according to official sources. The meeting will bring together top civilian and military leadership.
Field Marshal Asim Munir is scheduled to brief attendees on his recent visit to the United States, with the session expected to feature comprehensive discussions on the regional crisis and possible strategic responses, including support for Iran.
The meeting will also review the internal security landscape and border situation. Key participants will include Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and other senior officials. It is set to take place at 12:00 pm at the Prime Minister’s House.
Earlier in the day, PM Shehbaz held a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss the evolving Iran-Israel conflict. According to the PM Office, the two leaders exchanged views on recent developments in the region.
PM Shehbaz strongly condemned the U.S. strikes on Iran in the aftermath of Israeli aggression and reiterated Pakistan’s firm support for the Iranian government and people. He expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and wished a speedy recovery for those injured.
