ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has announced his party’s full support for the federal budget 2025–26, describing it as a friendly-people and balanced financial plan.
He expressed confidence in the government’s economic strategies, calling them effective steps towards controlling inflation and achieving economic stability.
Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, Bilawal Bhutto praised the budget proposals and acknowledged the government’s efforts in steering the economy toward improvement. “Due to the current administration’s policies, inflation is not rising as rapidly as it did in the past. Tangible efforts are being made to stabilise the economy. We consider this a people-friendly budget, and the PPP will strongly back it,” he stated.
He also commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s diplomatic efforts, saying that the premier’s commitment to peace and international cooperation deserves recognition. “When a nation speaks of peace, the world listens. History will remember the Prime Minister’s endeavours for promoting dialogue and diplomacy,” he said.
Addressing regional tensions, particularly with India, Bilawal warned of the serious consequences a war could have on the region if India responds to any terrorist incidents by escalating conflict. “We need a foreign policy that compels India to choose peace. If tensions are not defused through diplomacy, the entire region could be locked in continuous instability,” he cautioned.
Referring to Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir’s meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, Bilawal said the event highlights Pakistan’s growing relevance and stature on the international stage.
In conclusion, he emphasised that providing relief to the economically burdened and impoverished segments of society must remain the government’s top priority. He added that the PPP’s support for the budget is not driven by political expediency, but by a sincere desire to serve the public interest and improve the lives of ordinary citizens.
