Two teenagers drowned while swimming in the Nendhyar River in Battagram district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a rescue official on Monday.
Rescue 1122 official Aziz Khan reported that the two victims were identified as Hafiz Usman, 16, and Ayan, 14. They drowned while bathing in the river and died on the spot.
The Rescue 1122 medical team retrieved their bodies and transported them to the District Headquarters Hospital in Battagram, where they were pronounced dead.
Initially, there was a search operation underway for a third child due to initial suspicions. However, after locals informed the rescuers, it was confirmed that only the two teenagers had drowned. Consequently, District Emergency Officer Kashif Khattak instructed the rescue team to cease the search operation.

Tragedy struck near the Dargai refugee camp in Khatko Shah, Malakand, where four individuals, including a child, drowned in a canal on Wednesday, Rescue 1122 confirmed.
Upon receiving the emergency call, Rescue 1122 Malakand promptly dispatched divers and medical teams to the site. A search and rescue operation was launched with the support of local residents. All four victims were recovered from the water.
The victims were immediately shifted to THQ Hospital Dargai, where doctors confirmed the deaths of three individuals: Alamzeb (32), a resident of Khatko Shah; Bilal (26), from Muslimabad; and Arman (6), son of Jahangir, also from Khatko Shah. One individual, Salman (17), also from Khatko Shah, was rescued in an injured condition and is currently under medical treatment.
District Emergency Officer Nasir Khan personally supervised the rescue operation on-site, ensuring coordinated efforts between rescue teams and locals.
