ISLAMBAD: Field Marshal Asim Munir praised Major Muizz Abbas for his extraordinary bravery and unwavering patriotism and noted that the fallen officer resisted hostile forces with great courage and upheld the highest traditions of national Strength.
The funeral prayer of Major Syed Muizz Abbas Shah, who embraced martyrdom while bravely fighting militants in Sararogha, South Waziristan, was offered at Chaklala Garrison in Rawalpindi.
The operation was part of an ongoing counterterrorism campaign targeting the outlawed group “Khawarij,” allegedly backed by foreign elements. The funeral was attended by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, the Federal Interior Minister, senior serving military and civil officials, as well as fellow officers and soldiers.
“Major Muizz’s sacrifice is a timeless testament to the strength and resilience of our armed forces. The blood of our martyrs forms the very foundation of our national power,” said the Army Chief. He said that the entire nation stands united in grief and pride over the martyr’s sacrifice.
The body of Major Muizz Abbas has been transported to his hometown, Chakwal, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors. Field Marshal Munir further emphasized that the armed forces remain steadfast in their mission to eliminate all threats to national security. He said the military will continue to act with full force against elements that seek to destabilize the country, no matter where they are based or who supports them.
He also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and assured them that the sacrifice of their son would not be forgotten. “The entire nation stands with the family of the martyr in this moment of grief. We are proud of our brave sons who lay down their lives so the rest of us can live in peace.”
The martyrdom of Major Muizz Abbas has sparked a wave of unity and pride across the country.
