BURHAN: Two persons killed and 15 injured when a Bajaur bounded bus crashed on Motorway near Burhan on Wednesday.
According to a spokesperson from the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP), the bus was carrying a total of 42 passengers when it veered off course and crashed. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident was a result of the driver’s negligence. The impact also caused damage to multiple vehicles in the vicinity, though no additional casualties were reported from those vehicles.
Following the incident, Motorway Police personnel arrived swiftly at the scene and launched a coordinated rescue operation. First aid was provided to the injured passengers at the site, and emergency services were mobilized to manage the situation efficiently. A crane was used to remove the heavily damaged bus, ensuring that the flow of traffic could be restored in a timely.
In a concerning development, both the driver and the conductor of the bus fled the scene immediately after the crash. Authorities have begun efforts to trace and apprehend them. Local police have been engaged for further investigation and legal follow-up.
The NHMP has once again stressed the importance of safe driving practices and warned that strict legal action will be taken against drivers who endanger public safety through negligence. The department reaffirmed its dedication to protecting travellers on national highways and motorways.
