Harmony between civil and military institution is backbone of the country: Field Marshal Asim Munir

ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Asim Munir underlined the need for a transparent and dedicated bureaucracy and  termed the harmony between civil and milliatry institution a backbone of the country.

He held an exclusive session with the officers of the 52nd Common Training Program (CTP) at the Army Auditorium. The meeting was part of an ongoing national initiative aimed at promoting institutional alignment and reinforcing cooperation between the country’s civil and military leadership. During the course of their training, the civil service officers had recently been attached to various Pakistan Army formations operating in both conflict-prone and peaceful regions, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.

This field attachment provided them with a rare and valuable opportunity to closely observe the operational dynamics of all three branches of the armed forces — Army, Navy, and Air Force — as well as gain a better understanding of national security challenges and defense strategies. In his address, Field Marshal Asim Munir gave an in-depth overview of internal and external security challenges facing Pakistan. He elaborated on the Pakistan Army’s multi-dimensional role in maintaining peace, supporting regional stability, and assisting in national development during times of crisis. He emphasized the importance of synergy among institutions, noting that sustainable national progress can only be achieved through mutual respect, inter-institutional coordination, and a shared vision for Pakistan’s future.

Field Marshal Asim Munir underscored that a transparent, efficient, and service-driven civil bureaucracy is the backbone of the state apparatus. He called upon the young civil service officers to anchor their careers in honesty, professionalism, and patriotism, urging them to serve the people with humility, uphold the rule of law, and protect public trust in government institutions.

“The strength of any nation lies in the integrity and capability of its institutions. A dedicated bureaucracy, committed to the public good, plays a pivotal role in shaping governance and ensuring the delivery of essential services,” he stated. The young officers expressed deep appreciation for the Army’s hospitality and the unique insights they gained during their attachments. They described the interaction with military leadership as thought-provoking and inspirational, and lauded the professionalism, strategic foresight, and national commitment demonstrated by the Pakistan Army.

The session concluded with a dynamic and interactive Q&A segment, where officers openly engaged with the Field Marshal on a range of topics, including civil service reforms, national integration, institutional resilience, and pathways to long-term development. This engagement is widely seen as a positive step toward building bridges between Pakistan’s civil and military spheres, reinforcing a spirit of cooperation, mutual understanding, and joint responsibility in nation-building.
